Messy Church

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality and it's primarily for people who don't already belong to another form of church.

Coming to your first Messy Church

We meet in the Youth Hall, at the foot of Kirk Brae, Tarves.  Your first, and every Messy Church begins with a warm welcome so come along and join in with babies, toddlers, primary school children and families. Children are NOT dropped off — come and join the fun with them.

What we do on a Messy morning

We have a short introduction to the theme of the day and Messy Church then creatively explores Christian and moral themes through getting messy; with crafts, games and a story. The session ends with a prayer and singing, then sharing the special Messy lunch together without you having to clear up or cook.

Who is welcome at Messy Church?

Everyone — Messy Church models and promotes good ways of growing as a family: mums, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, carers and our own local church congregation — you are all part of the wider family we welcome at Messy Church.

When do we hold Messy Church?

We have 6 Messy Church sessions through the year and we advertise on our Tarves Messy Church Facebook page and on the church website calendar.

A big red banner goes up on the railings in Tarves Square one week before each Messy Church is held.

Thank you everyone for the great support you give the team.
